HISTORY

Following a public meeting held on 9th December 1998 in Ballymoney Town Hall, a Steering Group was formed with a view to establishing a Community Association. The participants felt strongly about the lack of facilities in the area and decided to formulate and carry out a survey. The original group was formed by the residents of Killyrammer, however it was later agreed to extend the area covered to include neighbouring Dunaghy.

The purpose of the survey was to assess the local communities view of the various services and highlight areas of concern. It was also planned to assess the support for the formation of a Community Association and the possibility of retaining Killyrammer Primary School.
Following detailed survey results a Management Committee was formulated for the newly established Killyrammer & District Community Association to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and other leisure time ? with the object of improving the conditions of life for local people.

The main aim of Killyrammer & District Management Committee remains the same today to provide and manage a neutral venue that can be used by people in the local community as an educational, social and recreational resource.
The objections are as follows:

· To cooperate with Ballymoney Borough Council to ensure the smooth running of Killyrammer Community Centre and to promote ideas and activities approved by the Council.

· To ensure maximum use of the centre and the provision of a varied programme of activities catering for all needs.

· To develop amongst the community of the Killyrammer & District area a mutual understanding, a respect for differing traditions and a sensitivity for each others culture.

On 23rd March 2004 Killyrammer & District Community Association was recognised as a charity for tax purposes under Inland Revenue reference No: XR76694.
