Ethnic Minorities & Migrant Workers Support Project |
Project Description
The main aim of the project is to increase equality of opportunity for individuals from minority ethnic backgrounds, through identifying and addressing needs, whilst developing capacity and building relationships with participant communities.
Project Aims & Objectives:
• To signpost individuals to services available to them
• To develop an Inter-Agency approach to support ethnic minorities
• To raise awareness of benefits of cultural diversity within Ballymoney
• To provide opportunities for integration of ethnic minorities into local life
• To organise cultural diversity events
• To liase with local employers of migrant workers
• To work with local community organisations to ensure inclusion of ethnic minority groups
• To provide volunteering opportunities for ethnic minorities
• To assist individuals to meet their own needs through a drop-in service
Fliers advertising this project are available in the following languages: Bulgarian, Chinese, Czech, English, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish and Russian.
Inter-Agency Forum
The project runs an Inter-Agency Forum every 6 weeks. The Forum exists to improve the sharing of information and communication between agencies, working towards improved provision of services and access to these services for ethnic minority individuals.
